Welcome to the GBEU internationals!

Who are we?

GBEU stands for Groupes Bibliques des Ecoles et Universités. We are an interdenominational christian student movement active in all the universities of French speaking Switzerland. We are also present in many senior high schools. We are founding members of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).

What activities are available for international students in Switzerland?

Although international students are welcome at all the activities we organise we understand that international students circumstances sometimes call for activities specific for them. Some of the activities we organise are listed below.

Welcome program

The Welcome Program is a joint initiative between the VBG (the Christian groups in German speaking Switzerland) and the GBEU. The goal is to welcome all of you who have come to Switzerland to study or do research. We seek to help students get in touch with Swiss people or families, who would invite them to their homes and get to know them and where they can learn something about the Swiss way of life too.
The Welcome Hospitality Programme is run by a a group of Christian students and graduates who would like to help international students find new friends here in Switzerland. Some have experienced hospitality in foreign countries and have known that feeling of loneliness in a place far away from home. The hosts are Christians, who will welcome all regardless of their home country and religious belief.

International Student Dinners

During term time we organise monthly International Student Dinners. These events involve free food and the chance to meet students from different countries. Each time we try to promote the food and traditions of a different part of the world. The dinners usually take place on the last Thursday of every month.

International Students Snow Retreat

18-20 February 2011
Come and experience fun in the Swiss Alps at the GBEU chalet in Les Diablererts. Set in an idyllic location right on the ski slopes, the GBEU chalet is a great place to make the most of the winter sports available, or for just chilling next to the fire place. The chalet is limited to 27 spaces, so register soon if you want to make sure you get a space! Send a message to GBEU internationaux to register.
